Cookies
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising trackers or embedded chat widgets. The email, WhatsApp and telephone buttons are links that open the service you choose.
The example load on the home page stays in your browser; its weights and choices are not sent to us. The Pause motion control changes how this visit is displayed. Neither feature saves a cookie or browser-storage entry.
What the server records
Vercel hosts this website and processes technical request information to deliver and protect it. This can include your IP address, the requested page, the time and browser information. We do not use this information for advertising or to build a profile of you. Vercel describes its processing and retention in its privacy notice.
If you message us
If you email, message us on WhatsApp, or ring and leave a voicemail, we hold what you sent — your name, your number or address, your yard’s name if you give it, and what you asked about — so that we can answer you and carry on the conversation.
- Why we may hold it
- Our legitimate interest in answering enquiries and discussing ScrapLog with potential customers. Where you personally ask to enter a contract with us, we also use the information to take the steps you request.
- Where it sits
- Email is held in Google Workspace and WhatsApp messages in WhatsApp Business. ONSIM provides our telephone service; voicemail recordings arrive in our Google Workspace mailbox as sound files. These providers process information to deliver their services.
- How long
- Two years from our last exchange, unless you become a customer, in which case the business records are kept as long as company and tax law requires. You can ask us to delete an enquiry sooner. If we need to keep information for a legal reason, we will explain why.
- Who else sees it
- We use the service providers named above to handle enquiries. We do not sell or rent enquiry details, or add you to a marketing list because you asked a question.
The yards who use the software
The app has its own privacy notice. For sellers’ details a yard records — names, addresses, ID documents, payments — the yard is the controller and we are its processor. We hold that data on the yard’s behalf, under the agreement the yard accepts when it signs up, and do not use it for our own marketing. Read the app’s privacy notice for its data, suppliers and retention periods. For a request about a seller’s record, contact the yard that holds it.
The app’s main database is hosted in London, United Kingdom. Its privacy notice also explains the other services that receive data when the yard uses them.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to us holding it. You may also have a right to receive information you supplied in a reusable format. The rights that apply depend on why the information is held. Email hello@scraplog.co.uk. We normally respond within one month; if the law allows more time for a complex request, we will explain the extension within that month.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or ring their helpline on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first, but you do not have to.
Decisions about you
We do not use your enquiry to score or profile you, or to make automated decisions about you. A person reads your message and answers it.
Changes to this notice
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it.
