These are ScrapLog’s fees. No VAT is charged, and there is no extra charge per person or per load. Use a phone or tablet at the gate and a computer, phone or tablet in the office.
Defra’s separate charge
If you use Defra’s Digital Waste Tracking service to report waste received, Defra charges £26 a year for each organisation on your account. That covers all of that organisation’s receiving sites, whether you use software or Defra’s spreadsheet. It is separate from our fees and we do not collect it. The first payment is due by 31 January 2027.

What the £300 covers
Somebody with twelve years in the trade comes to your yard and sets it up around the way you already work. We can do the same setup over a video call instead.
- Your metals, under the names your yard already uses.
- Your prices on them, in the units you quote them in.
- Your own reasons for deductions, such as contamination.
- Your weighbridge and bench scales entered by name, with their calibration certificate references and expiry dates. Weights are typed from the display.
- Your gate phones or tablets set up, and a PIN for each person who uses them.
- The printed signs for the yard, in your yard’s name.
The setup fee is once per site. A second site has its own £200 monthly fee and £300 setup fee.
The contract
- When payment starts
- The £300 setup fee is paid before the setup day. Your first month starts on that day; monthly fees are paid in advance.
- Length
- Monthly rolling, no tie-in. There is no minimum term.
- Notice
- 30 days’ written notice. Email us to cancel; the monthly fee continues during the notice period.
- Price rises
- At least 30 days’ written notice, and no rise during a notice period you have already given. We also tell you in writing before any VAT is charged.
- VAT
- ECET Solutions Ltd is not VAT registered. The amounts above are what you pay.
What happens if you stop
Stopping does not delete anything you recorded. The app has no delete button for loads or payments. A completed load keeps its metals, weights and prices; a correction stays on the record.
Take your records with you before you go. Your sign-in closes at the end of the notice period. Print the records you need before then. Each receipt-and-disposal pack holds up to 500 receipts and 500 disposals; use smaller date ranges for a larger period. The metal book and individual receipts can also be printed.
If you want it as a file rather than on paper, ask. There is no button that downloads everything at once. Ask us and a person puts your records together for you. For quarterly hazardous waste returns in England, the app prepares a file of figures to copy into the Environment Agency’s workbook. You complete and send that return yourself.
What you need
ScrapLog runs in a web browser. You use your existing scales and type their readings into the app. There is no hardware to buy from us and no connection to fit to your weighbridge. A gate load can wait on the device when there is no signal; it needs a connection to reach the office.
You pay sellers from your own bank
ScrapLog does not make payments or take a percentage of what you pay a seller. If you keep payment records in ScrapLog, the record holds the method, reference and person who marked the payment as paid. If your records are kept in another app, the owner can choose that in settings.
